Break Da Bank Again Slot Review

Break Da Bank Again is a five reel, nine payline slot from developers Microgaming. It is themed after a fictional bank heist, in which you take centre stage as the pantomime villain. Because of this, the high-value symbols are all based on valuable objects and currency. In descending order of value, they are comprised of; a purple gem, a stack of gold bars, a pile of cash, a cheque book and a pile of gold coins. The low-value symbols are made up of the standard playing cards 10, J, Q, K and A. There are two special symbols in the game; a scatter in the form of a vault and a wild which is shown as the game's logo. The game boasts two bonus features which are a free spins round and a Scatter pays system.

Slots have come a long way since the bulky fruit machines of decades gone by. From special symbols that can literally transform in front of you, to reels that expand depending on the combinations you land, the list of improvements and additions is near endless. However, even in the face of these seemingly inevitable innovations, games with a far more minimalist approach have still proved immensely popular. Break Da Bank Again is proof of this desire for the nostalgic amongst the online gaming audience, even more so when you consider the fact it's a sequel! It might not have the cleanest display, nor is it overflowing with bonuses, but it is still a hugely popular title on Kerching.

Visuals and Layout

For the modern slot player, there is almost an expectation on developers to deliver flashy, computer-generated graphics in their games. This isn't a priority for Microgaming though, as this game's virtually devoid of any animations outside of the reels spinning. However, this never really detracts from the enjoyment of the game, it just makes the overall aesthetic a little duller than most contemporary slots. This isn't to say Break Da Bank Again is terrible to look at either, the symbols are all designed to a good standard, and the interface is clean and simple. If you can live without all the bells and whistles, the minimalist design isn't really an issue.

While you can get past outdated symbols, it's another issue entirely if the values not there. In this regard, Break Da Bank Again stays true to its name, as wins can pay quite well if you're fortunate. The highest paying symbol in the game is the purple jewel, which will payout 1,500 in the base game for a five of a kind win. After that comes the stacks of gold, followed by piles of cash, the cheque book and the gold coins. However, big multipliers can be applied to these depending on whether you're in the free spins mode and if you land either the wild or scatter in these winning combinations.

Bonus Features

Free Spins

In order to trigger this bonus, you will have to land the scatter symbol 3, 4 or five times anywhere in view on the reels. For this, you will receive 15, 20 or 25 free spins respectively, with a five times multiplier applied to every win you get during the round. On top of this, if you land the in-game wild in the same spin as a winning combination while the bonus is still active, the win will then be multiplied by 25x. Landing an additional scatter symbol in the round will also grant an extra free spin.

Gamble Feature

After you land a winning combination, you will have the opportunity to double your winnings through the gamble option. It’s a simple case of predicting whether the drawn card will be black or red. If you’re right, you’ll walk away with twice the amount of money. Get it wrong and you’ll leave empty-handed.

Break Da Bank Again might not be the prettiest game out there, but it certainly makes up for this in its gameplay. Winning combinations in the base game can payout quite well in their own right, but the free spins round can really add to this. The 5x multiplier applied to every win in the round is already a great feature, but add the wild’s 25x multiplier, plus the ability to add more free spins through the scatter and you have a really engaging game mode. If you love the extra features and graphics of modern slots, this probably isn’t the game for you. However, if you’re after a simplistic yet volatile title, Break Da Bank Again might just do the trick.
