Believe it or not, it has been over 45 years since Star Trek first graced our screens in its original TV series format. Its cult popularity led to the production of a further four live-action series. Eleven Star Trek films have also been made, with the 12th due for release in 2012. This long-running sci-fi franchise has spawned hundreds of spin-off books and comics, as well as a cartoon show.
Fans of the original series of films, or 'Trekkies' as they like to be known, will doubtless spot plenty of familiar features on the Star Trek slots game. For example, the traditional card symbols on the reels feature the United Federation of Planets logo, usually seen on the uniforms of the characters. The transporter pads will also ring a bell with fans; although as any Trekkie worth their salt will tell you, the famous line "Beam me up, Scotty" was never actually spoken in a film or TV episode!
The 2009 Star Trek movie
The Star Trek slots game is in fact based on the 11th movie, released in 2009. This film was described as a 'reboot', as it travelled back in time to tell the story of how the original crew met. In fact, the action takes places before James T. Kirk was made a captain!
New actors were used to portray these young versions of our favourite characters, which is why the faces on the reels might not be familiar to old-school fans. However, Kirk, Uhura, Spock, and good old Scotty - played by British comedy star Simon Pegg - all appear on the reels, and each has their own unique bonus game to help you rack up the big prizes.
More Kerching blockbusters
Of course, the Star Trek movie is not the only blockbuster our members can revisit at Kerching. Transformers - Ultimate Payback is an incredibly popular online slots game based on the Transformers series of films, cartoons and games. One reason for its success has to be the deathmatch bonus between Optimus Prime and Megatron - it's like watching your very own movie and maybe even winning a prize at the end of it!
