What are slots?

In short, Slots is just another name for slot machines.

There are many different types of slots including Double Diamond, Wolf Run, Jeopardy, Elvis Multi strike, Vegas baby, Cluedo, Texas tea and many, many more.

The whole idea of slots or slot machines is that you match one kind of symbol across all of the reels to win a prize. The size of the prize from slots is then determined by which symbol you match up. Originally slots used either fruit or suits from playing cards.

Over the years the variety of symbols used on slots has become ever more varied, with some machines using appropriate images, trademarks and logos to coincide with the name of the game i.e. monopoly slots use images associated with the game.

Slots were originally invented at the end of the 19th century and since then have revolutionised gambling, transforming it from a male-dominated arena to a place in society where slot machines are viewed by both sexes as a very enjoyable way to gamble, especially in places like Las Vegas.

Slots now have a variety of formats; some are physical machines, very popular in both casinos and pubs across the world and now, since the birth of the internet and the digital age, online slots are appearing in a variety of online casinos and come in as many designs as you could imagine.

Even though at some point in the future, online slot machines will take over from traditional slots, the idea of slots will carry on forever. Slots are here to stay.
