Sixty jobs created by online casino, with gamers winning a share of £2m

Recent news has suggested that online casinos have seen a significant rise in revenue, despite the current recession in the UK and economic concerns around the world.

Now, it has been reported that one online casino is creating sixty jobs in the North East, following a boom in online casinos.

The online casino has already created 30 jobs, with plans for 30 more in the next few months, eventually bringing the Sunderland-based company's workforce to 130.

The online casino is one of many, including Kerching, around the country offering casino games such as poker, roulette and blackjack, as well as online slots and fruit machines, to players.

Since it established itself as an independent company in August, after operating the online gaming operations for a national newspaper, it has invested in a £5 million advertising campaign to increase its profile across the UK.

A spokesperson for the online casino emphasised that the news was proof that online casinos are thriving despite the recent monetary downturn:

"Sadly, there are few companies who can report positive performance recently, but in the last three months we have added 30 new members to the team and that pattern will be repeated by adding 30 more in the coming months.

"The online casino is still recruiting for a variety of roles, including chat moderators, which the spokesperson said have been positive acquisitions for the online casino: "It's one of the key factors in our rise in player numbers."
