Reno resident bags massive jackpot after playing for just 10 minutes

A slots player has won just over £22million - the second largest slot machine jackpot in the history of gaming giant IGT, with whom Kerching shares a prestigious affiliation.

Rachael Renee Romanick received $33,000,563 playing progressive slots game Megabucks, the land-based version of Kerching's MegaJackpots series of online slots at Terrible's Rail City Casino in Las Vegas.

The 38-year old mother of four from Reno, Nevada, was persuaded to go to the casino by her friend, and was only playing for about 10 minutes when she hit the slots jackpot.

Rachael said: "I really owe [the win] to my friend. I wanted to stay home, but he wanted to gamble at Rail City and convinced me to join him.

Rachael said she had no idea what she had won at first: "I had to ask someone if this was for real," she said. "I kind of froze because this was so unexpected."

MegaBucks is part of a highly popular family of progressive slot machine games. Kerching Casino features several of IGT's online MegaJackpots slots, which have a £1.5 million starting jackpot.

They are MegaJackpots Cleopatra, MegaJackpots Monopoly with Pass Go Bonus and MegaJackpots Cluedo with Mystery Bonus slots.

Ed Rogish, IGT's vice president of marketing, said: "We are very pleased to have a winner for the second largest jackpot in IGT history.

"This is truly monumental and will be a life-altering prize for Rachael and her family."
