Online casino gamers surveyed for new study
Women play more frequently in online casinos than men, according to a study from a university in the United Kingdom.
The study by Nottingham Trent University, which compiled data from over 10,000 online gamers worldwide, also found that women play for longer in online casinos when compared to the time men spend at internet casinos.
The survey found that nearly 55 per cent of online casino players were women. The majority of women gamers questioned in the survey said they had been gaming in online casinos for two to three years and usually played two or three times per week.
The study also found that women were more likely to visit online casinos - playing casino games like online slots or online blackjack - for relaxation. In contrast, the majority of men questioned for the survey said that their main motivation for playing in online casinos was for their own excitement. Other reasons players gave for gaming in an online casino included socialising and entertainment.
While the survey discovered that women who visited online casinos generally play with lower stakes than men, it was found that women played for considerably longer periods of time in online casinos.
When asked what attracted them to one particular online casino, more than sixty per cent of players said that a wide variety of online casino games were important to them when choosing an online casino to play in. Fewer than five per cent said licensed games - games inspired by movies or television - was a deciding factor in their choice of casino, while almost sixty per cent of players said that an online casino’s reputation was the major choice in their decision. When asked about the main attractions of online casino games, 76 per cent of gamers said good bonuses on online casino games were important to them.
