Players from all over the world will compete for the prize
The World Poker Tour will stop off this summer for the WPT London Poker Classic, its first-ever UK event. Online casino fans can catch the event at the Mayfair Hotel from August 29th to September 5th 2010 and see players from around the world vie for a table place at the 2011 WPT Championship in Las Vegas. Other prizes on offer to card sharp include a first-place cash prize and a coveted WPT Champions' bracelet.
The action will be held in the hotel's Palm Beach Casino room and will be filmed for television via a satellite link-up broadcast around the world. Here are the details:
- Two starting days - 29 and 30 August - kick proceedings off
- Opening games will feature a total player cap of 400.
- The £5,000 and £300 Main Events start after that, which could result in a big opportunity for one lucky winner.
Thrilled to be in the UK
According to event partner Simon Tomsett, players from far and wide will come to London to compete. He added that the group is delighted to be teaming up with the WPT.
WPT President Adam Pliska is pleased to bring some classic card action to the UK. He said:
