Woman says video evidence is on her side in the case of the AWOL roulette prize
A woman in Australia has decided to take a casino to court after a croupier working there allegedly handed her winnings to the wrong person.
Here's how Marites Martin says it happened:
- Martin places a chip for $100 (£57) on a number on the board and sees it come up.
- The croupier manning the wheel mistakenly gives her chips to a man at the same table.
- The man leaves with the cash before Ms Martin realises what has happened.
Ms Martin has now lodged a civil action with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, admitting that her inexperience with the game led to the problem, but adding that the mix-up still should not have happened.
"I just can't believe I have been treated like that," Ms Martin said.
Crown Casino spokesman Gary O'Neill commented that he could not comment on the case as it is due to go before the courts, but claimed that the incident was under review.
