Poker pro Van Marcus loses supercar in casino mix-up
It's something that wouldn't happen to an online casino player, but a poker pro recently left an offline casino in Australia only to find his Ferrari had been driven away by somebody else.
Van Marcus is known for his luck on the poker table, but he must have been cursing it after he discovered the valet parking team at the Crown Casino in Melbourne had handed his keys to a complete stranger the morning after a big match.
Casino spokesperson Gary O'Neill told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that the disappearance of the Ferrari F420 Spider would result in "more than one or two red faces around the place". Furthermore, he suggested that the theft of the vehicle was down more to the immorality of people rather than a fault with staff at the venue. He said:
"From time to time, people come out and say 'Look I've been in the place for a while, I can't locate my ticket. I've been looking for it for five minutes but that is my car.'"
Quick recovery
Luckily for Van Marcus, the vehicle was spotted hours later at a service station in the city, and a 32-year-old man was charged with stealing the car.
The Ferrari is now being forensically examined, and according to Sergeant Trevor Thorn, Van Marcus is "very pleased" that the authorities have it back.
