Secret room for blackjack and roulette set up at Surrey home

We're sure that Kerching casino gambling fans would sometimes do anything to escape a visit from the in-laws, so spare a thought for footballer Ashley Cole.

The Chelsea and England star, who earlier this year split from wife Cheryl amid claims of infidelity, would reportedly disappear to an upstairs room whenever Joan Callaghan was around.

Cole's secret room was revealed by David Gilbert, who sold the house to the couple for £3.5 million in 2008. The 63-year-old was invited back as a guest a few months later, and found a number of changes had been made to the property. He said:

"At the top of the house is Ashley's gambling den with gaming tables. His football shirts adorn the walls and a marquetry floor has the emblems of the teams he has played. There was a spiral staircase to it and Ashley said that was where he bolted to escape Cheryl's mother."

Home casino fun

Of course, those looking to escape visiting family with a few rounds of online blackjack can always look to Kerching's casino games.

Indeed, Kerching has a number of interesting variations on traditional blackjack rules including Double Attack Blackjack. This game can produce paybacks as high as three-to-one, while you can also double your bet against a weak dealer up-card if you'd like to try your luck and win big.
