New show about online poker stars

- Friday, October 17 2008

It seems that these days there is a reality TV show to cover every aspect of our lives.

Now, for the poker player who is as keen on Big Brother as they are on playing a few hands, videogames channel G4 has the answer: House of Cards, a reality TV show starring four young online poker players.

The show is currently in the pilot stages of production and stars online poker legends Krantz, Whitelime, Foxwoods Fiend and Flawless Victory.

The new show will have lots of high stakes drama and a good amount of screen time dedicated to following the four poker players as they win and lose huge amounts of money playing online poker in the casino capital of the world, Las Vegas.

That said, Krantz has recently revealed in his blog that it was not all plain sailing getting a production company to take a gamble by commissioning the casino-set show. Apparently, the fact that the stars were four normal, well-adjusted young men seemed to be a turn off.

He said, "It was shopped around at MTV, HBO, and a bunch of other networks that passed for various reasons, some of which included that 'they wished one of us would have a drug addiction or go broke,' or 'Loved it! Now make two of them girls!'."

Despite the apparent lack of eye candy making an appearance on the show, the boys will still be providing viewers with plenty of footage of them partying in casinos, funding lavish lifestyles with online poker winnings, and other such behaviour.

The pilot will be put together by Emmy award-winning producer Michael Maloy.
